There are loads of different wine regions in New South Wales! There are a total of 16 wine regions. It’s home to the Hunter Valley, which is Australia’s oldest and most iconic wine region.

New South Wales produces just under 30% of all of Australia’s wines.

Hunter Valley

Hunter Valley is the oldest wine region in Australia.

The vines here are hundreds of years old, and they produce some incredible tasting wines that get the whole world talking.

The Hunter Valley puts New South Wales on the wine map! Its proximity to Sydney makes it a popular place to explore a wine region, because you can get there in just a day! It’s easy to do Hunter Valley in a day!

Orange

Orange has plenty of different wines that have appeared from this region, like its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Orange’s cooler climate has produced some of Australia’s most famous wines, and it’s slowly becoming a popular wine region in New South Wales!

Southern Highlands

Located just to Sydney’s southwest, you’ll find the Southern Highlands wine region. It’s blessed with some very nutritious soils that are perfect for grape growing!

This means there’s plenty of grape-loving soils which can produce a tasty pinot gris and a pinot noir.

Hastings River

Hastings River meanders through Port Macquarie. This wine region produces wines that tend to pair well with the local foods of the region. This area is particularly famous for its seafood, too – so if you’re ever in the area, make sure you check out a seafood-meets-wine pairing!
