Day One

Here’s our Day 1 Itinerary:

  • Soak up the views at Echo Point
  • Visit Scenic World
  • Visit Katoomba Falls
  • Visit the Leura Cascades

On your first day, when you arrive in the Blue Mountains…

Soak up the views at Echo Point

When you arrive in the Blue Mountains, the best thing to do first of all is to soak up the panoramic views. En route to Scenic World, stop off at Echo Point for a look at the iconic Three Sisters rock formation. Learn about the Dreamtime creation of the sandstone stacks and take in the beautiful views! The views are stunning and leave many visitors breathless.

Scenic World

But ultimately, the best way to soak up the views of the Blue Mountains is to visit Scenic World! There are three ways to enjoy the views of the Blue Mountains at Scenic World.

Either take the Scenic Cableway, the Railway, or the Scenic Skyway. Or, of course, there’s also the Scenic Walkway which allows you to wander around and see the views at your own pace.

All three different ways of viewing the Blue Mountains will allow you to view everything from the top of the mountains. Journey along the cable cars that run high up from the mountains, where you’ll see the vast beauty of the Blue Mountains National Park.

Stop at Katoomba Falls

Katoomba Falls is a great place to go for a hike, and you’ll see the waterfalls while you’re in Scenic World! It’s a stunning scenic waterfall. Katoomba Falls is possibly one of the most snapped waterfalls in all of Australia. If you take the circuit hike around the Falls, the whole hike is 1 hour and 30 minutes, and you’ll get an immersive experience of the forest surrounding the waterfall.

Visit the Leura Cascades

Don’t miss the Leura Cascades! There is a great hike you can do to see the Leura Cascades.. Simply visit the Leura Cascades picnic area to start with, and then go down the stairs that lead to the Leura Falls Creek. You’ll get to a footbridge, where you can cross over and then turn right. The walk is well signposted.

Along the walk, you’ll see heaps of perfect opportunities for a photo. If you’re a keen birdwatcher, look out for wompa-doves along the way.

Day Two

  • Watch the sunrise
  • Visit Katoomba for lunch
  • Visit Wentworth Falls

Govetts Leap Lookout

In the morning, check out the sunrise from Govetts Leap. The Govetts Leap Lookout offers a sweep of stunning views of mountains that crisscross over one another. The cliffs are sheer, and the canyons are wide, making a breathtaking sight. It’s one of the most famous lookout points in the country, and it’s easy to see why.

Look up to see the yellow-tailed black cockatoo shouting a ‘weela weela’, or look for the vivid colours of the King Parrot.

Visit Wentworth Falls

To start your day, take a lovely, relaxing hike through the bush. Visit Wentworth Falls and round off your experience in the Blue Mountains with your final waterfall hike! Either take the hiking route, or if you’re pushed for time, then simply walk through to the viewpoint.

Go to Katoomba for a bite to eat

To wrap up your day and get something to eat before heading off, check out the town of Katoomba. Visit the small town of Katoomba for lunch. Walk around the town and pick up souvenirs, and grab something to eat from one of the local eateries. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants serving up a variety of different cuisines! You’ll even find pie shops – make sure you sample a classic Aussie pie and a coffee!

Already been to Katoomba? Check out Leura! There are quaint little cafes and cute streets with leafy suburbs.
