You don’t have to put on your skis to enjoy the fun at Mount Buller – there’s still plenty to see and do in Mount Buller.

Here’s how you can explore the Alpine mountain without putting on your skis! This pretty retreat is only three hours from the busy city of Melbourne, offering a nice balance between a bustling alpine ski resort and a relaxed mountain vibe.

Ski-free activities include:

There are heaps of things you can do that don’t involve skiing or boarding!

You can go…

  • Snowshoeing
  • Dog sledding
  • Tobogganing
  • Snow picnic
  • Scenic helicopter
  • Sculpting
  • Alpine rollercoaster

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is like hiking, but in the snow. Put on your snowshoes for an exciting hike around the mountains. It’s the best way to explore the mountains on foot, without putting on any skis.

Snowshoes are special types of footwear that distribute weight over a large surface area. Snowshoes will allow you to walk evenly across the area.

Hire snowshoes and hop on a snowshoeing tour departing from 12 and 1:30 pm every day. This is a great way for non-skiers to experience being on the snow. Walk at your own pace and take in the alpine scenery, and wander through the snow gum trees.

Dogsledding

The Mount Buller huskies lead the sleds every day!

These cute dogs are strong and fast, pulling sleds down the mountains, meaning you get the experience of whizzing down the mountain without putting any skis on at all!

Since 2014, this cute, fun-filled activity has been a strong family favourite among Mount Buller visitors.
